Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati is the first among the 3rd phase of IITs, announced in 2014, to have its
foundation stone laid in March 2015. The Stage 1A Transit Campus (over 36 acres) is integrated into the
Permanent Campus spanning over 548.3 acres provided by the Government of Andhra Pradesh in Merlapaka
Village on Yerpedu-Venkatagiri Highway. This campus was inaugurated by Honourable Minister of Human
Resource Development Shri Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank‘ on 13th August 2019.
The Government of Andhra Pradesh is nurturing Tirupati as the knowledge hub of the State. The IISER Tirupati
permanent campus is about 3 Kms from the IIT Tirupati campus. Many established Institutions such as Sri
Venkateswara University, Sri Venkateswara Medical College, Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences
(SVIMS), Sri Padmavathi Mahila Visvavidyalayam, National Sanskrit University, etc. are located in Tirupati. An
integrated business city “Sri City” and the Satish Dhawan Space Center (SHAR) in Sriharikota being close by,
gives it a technological edge. Tirupati town, being one of an important cites in Andhra Pradesh with its Airport
and proximity to Chennai and Bengaluru, gives it excellent connectivity
You will have opportunity to visit the Technology Innovation Hub (TIH) in Position & Precision Technologies
(PPT), You will also interact with faculty scientists and students working in many exciting research areas such
as Semiconductors and Electronic Manufacturing, Quantum Technologies, Advanced Manufacturing, Smart
Infrastructure, Food Science & Precision Agriculture, Energy Storage (Hydrogen and battery systems), Water
Treatment, algorithms for smart grids etc.
At the Innovation and Incubation hub, you will be interacting with several young start-ups. In addition, you will also be able to interact with our students working on social and community related projects through NSS and
Unnat Bharat Abhiyan Initiatives as well as meet the local industry leaders arranged through CII.
You may also want to supplement your IIT-Tirupati visit with recreational visits to well-known nearby places
such as world-famous Tirumala temple, Talakona waterfall, Shri Kalahasti temple, holy waters of Papavinasam
Teertham, and Chandragiri Palace & Fort.
Our campus is conveniently located from Tirupati airport (about 12 Kms and 22-min drive). Besides ample
capacity in our on-campus guest houses, nearby Tirupati City (26 Kms away with 45 mins drive) offers
